SERVICES PROVIDED: Open Doors (Educational Talent Search) and Upward Bound are federally funded programs which serve students in grades 7-12 who are considered “at risk” of not living up to their academic potential. Services include academic skill
improvement, career information, personal growth and development, and post-secondary planning and preparation. Workshops are also available for parents to help them prepare their students for education and careers beyond high school.
ELIGIBILITY: Students must meet federal income requirements and come from families where parents do not have a 4-year college degree.
SERVICE AREA: Students in Lawton Public Schools are eligible, as well as community adults.
DOCUMENTATION: (1) Completed Open Doors (grades 7-12) and Upward Bound
(grades 9-11) application. (2) Proof of Income (e.g. 1040) (3) Academic transcript.

- MONEY 2000 and BEYOND: Individuals and families are helped with basic
Money management skills and use of their resources to reduce debt and increase savings. Income generation and entrepreneurship are included with OSU’s Home Based Business curriculum. - LEARN TO EARN and MONEY MY WAY: Income generation and
entrepreneurship are emphasized for youth ages 12 and above with these
programs. - NUTRITION, HEALTH and FOOD SAFETY: Learn to follow the new Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the Food Guide Pyramid to maintain health; Supermarket Savvy, Food Safety, and recipe modification to emphasize increased fiber intake and decreased fat, sugar, salt or cholesterol are some of the programs.
- HOME AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION GROUPS: Organized groups
throughout Comanche County have programming on subjects related to the home and family. Membership is open to all interested individuals. - GENERAL INFORMATION: Information on various facets of child development, child care, family life, parenting, clothing, money management, housing, health, foods and nutrition, etc.
- ELIGIBILITY: Programs and materials are available to the general public through Oklahoma State University, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and cooperating State and Local Governments. Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service offers its programs to all eligible persons regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, religion, or
